Thought For The Day

Parent Thoughts

Having been involved in helping some boys become men I have a bit of insight on this parenting thing. I wonder if there is a possibility that some parents are not thinking clearly. I supposed any living creature (and/or rocks) can be a pet for a child, but maybe a thinking  parent would avoid some things – like alligators. There is one more pet choice that leaves me wondering. . .

Lawyers representing a San Diego family have filed a lawsuit against Petco Animal Supplies Inc., saying a 10-year-old boy died from rat-bite fever contracted from a male rat purchased at one of the national chain’s stores. (Associated Press)

I guess there are some folks (other than those at Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME) who like rats. I just can’t see buying my kid a rat. Get a dog, a cat, a horse, a rock if you like, but a rat – Heavens!

Of course I have trouble understanding parents who won’t take their kids to Church (and stay with them). Kids need Truth, llove, care, and Godly adults to discover a real morality, a life of peace with God, and and opportunity to respond to the Gospel of grace. Failure to do so means they are less likely to discover Heaven, and leaves them vulnerable to the Enemy.

Such failure is kind of like buying your child a rat for a pet. Lots of things can go wrong.
