Thought For The Day

A Little Help

When I spoke with the Preacher this afternoon he told me he had driven to a nearby place to help a person by moving some very heavy boxes of various supplies that had been delivered to her home. The home has an access ramp and the several boxes had been unloaded in such a manner the incapacitated person who lived in the home could not even get down the ramp, along with being incapable of moving the boxes.

The boxes were soon moved and placed where the homeowner instructed. It took about thirty minutes to get the job done, along with a little clean-up, and exchanges of thanks and invites to Church.

It got me to thinking that while there are a lot of things that we cannot do to resolve the problems so many people have these days, there are multitudes of folks who are a little behind on their bills, need their cars worked on, have handyman needs around their home, and an infinite number of other small problems, along with a few who just need some attention from another human.

The easiest path when confronted is to be too busy, or too tired, or disinterested in the needs of others. But, when we “can, and don’t” we are missing a Truth that is exciting on its face. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus said, “And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’”

So here’s the simple, but clear, Truth. The Preacher moved some “stuff” for God today. I know I should not be envious, but I am. . .just a little.
