Thought For The Day

Above the Law

It would appear that some people in this United States of America are above the law. Acts and actions taken by some send them to prison. On the other hand, the same acts and actions taken by someone else brings only a mild condemnation indicating that person might have made a mistake or (after lying to the FBI, for example, Martha went to prison) “misspoke.”

Such thoughts remind me that I am grateful I did not arrive in the World while it was under the old covenant of Levitical Law. There is no possibility I could have kept that law (not that it was intended for that purpose) any way, shape or form . (Neither could anyone else, BTW, even though one man told Jesus he had kept it “from his youth up.” see Luke 18:21ff)

Fortunately, I arrive after the grace of God was clearly displayed on Calvary, and the the old law (covenant) was subsumed by His amazing grace. Jesus Christ fulfilled the law for me, then imputed His righteousness to me by grace, through faith. (see Ephesians 2:8-9)

We have believed for years that “no man is above the law.” But during these days it appears that is simply a relic of the past. While most will suffer the consequences of their failure to obey the law, others, evidently, will not. Hence the adage, “life is not fair.”

Imagine one who is above the law being able to make a plethora of decisions regarding your day to day life. Think carefully how willing you are to trust that person, and whether or not, given the opportunity, you could join with others to prohibit that individual’s rise to that level of power.

We are citizens of the Heavenly Kingdom. But we are also citizens of the Nation in which we live, and breathe, and have our being. If you are not praying and seeking the wisdom of God’s Spirit within your own life, get busy. Time is now fleeting. . .the moments are passing. . . (Hey, I could make a song out of that.)
