Thought For The Day

Acceptable Worship

Talk (which usually dissolves into arguments) is almost always about HOW to Worship. The Church of Jesus Christ, and all those wanna be gatherings, have created a divided idea of what real Worship is. One thing is for certain, however, we seldom if ever speak about WHO may Worship.

Perhaps there is so little enthusiasm for real Worship because there is so little preparation for, and understanding of, the process. We emphasis  the “style” – music, preaching, order of service, performance enhancers, smoke and lasers, etc. God’s emphasis is on the CHARACTER of the Worshipper.

Psalm 15 (please stop here and read it!) asks a twofold question and provides a twelve part response. Let’s compare ourselves to those spoken of by God in His response to the question, “Who can live in God’s presence, and who can Worship on His holy mountain?”

POSITIVELY: A lifestyle of integrity, deeds that exhibit justice, speech that portrays Truth, hates the evil God hates, honors God’s people (the Church), and holds himself/herself accountable.

NEGATIVELY: No backbiting, no evil toward others, no “dumping” on others, one who is not fickle, not greedy, and cannot be bought.

That kind of person is “never moved.”

It is the opinion of LLOVELETTERS that, when it comes to real Worship, we all need a little coaching on WHO, rather than HOW. Whether we Worship all alone (on occasion) or with a large or small group of others, we best know who we are, what we are about, and what God requires. Otherwise it’s just “fluff and stuff.”
