Thought For The Day

Age of the Cosmos

New calculations suggest the universe could be a couple billion years younger than scientists now estimate, and even younger than suggested by two other calculations published this year that trimmed hundreds of millions of years from the age of the cosmos. The huge swings in scientists’ estimates — even this new calculation could be off by billions of years — reflect different approaches to the tricky problem of figuring the universe’s real age. Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb, who wasn’t part of the study said, “It is difficult to be certain of your conclusions if you use a ruler that you don’t fully understand.” (TIME)

I never cease to be amazed at how often the Scientific community changes it’s collective mind regarding everything that has to do with the “age of things.” Perhaps astronomer Avi Loeb has stuck gold in his commentary, however, when he calls for the use of a “ruler” that is correct. That would be the Ruler of the Cosmos, the Infinite, Everlasting God who spoke the Cosmos into existence, and will speak it out of existence when He choses.

It takes a limited mind to believe that the Cosmos “big-banged” its way into existence, and that it will continue for another “billions of years” unabated by the intervention of He who is Ruler, Lord, and Savior of its inhabitants.

I really don’t care much about how old it is. I am greatly eager to see the end of it all, as we know it, and be gathered together with the Ruler in a new Heaven and a New Earth, where we celebrate eternally the sacrifice of Llove that brought Jesus Christ to redeem all mankind.

You don’t have a billion years to get the redemption provided for you by the Savior. Why not seek Him today!

Of the three aspects of creation, Who, why and when I an only certain of the first, because He responds daily to my petitions, blesses me abundantly with undeserved forgiveness and life needs, and I have to surmise that he yearns for my returned Love.
