Thought For The Day

Agonizing

Music is such a magnificent way to praise and glorify our Lord and Savior, and worship the Father with enthusiasm and joy.

So many, however, don’t know the Truth, or ignore the Truth,  in some journey toward establishing a mantra to manipulate the mind of those who are yet to understand the revelation of God. It is agonizing to endure.

For example, when the musicians lead us in singing (over, and over, and over, for. . .maybe 20 minutes) “Come Jesus, Come,” or “Come Holy Spirit,” we serve no purpose but to dull our minds to a mechanical recitation of simple ignorance. Wherever a Believer(s) is, God is there, the Trinity is present, our Savior is waiting, the Spirit is at work. We have no need at all to “beg” God to be among us much less to do so over and over. When we sing “We Want More,” we insult the One who has given us everything from life, to Salvation, to an Eternal Home, to His indwelling Spirit, to ever Spiritual Blessing (see Ephesians 1:3) and has withheld nothing that is Holy, Righteous, and Godly for our life. When we sing (over and over), “We wait for You,” we miss the reality that it is not us waiting on HIM, rather HE waiting on us. Our singing is egocentric rather than Praise and Adoration.

The problem is not God’s reluctance to join us, but our ignorance, or distractions, or disobedience, or apathy, or indifference. . . which keeps us from the Worship that He deserves.

We would do well to rethink our Music and our Message, when they move in opposition to the Truth revealed in Scripture.
