Thought For The Day

Anger

Please don’t tell my Preacher about this post. I am making sure it is not delivered in his mail, and he has been so busy lately I know he is not reading the post every day. I pray he misses this one (I don’t want to lose my “writer” position with lloveletters).

Anger is a legitimate emotion, and sometimes we have the right to be angry, to express that anger, and be confident that we are in the “right.” Anger is a sin only if it is illegitimate, or causes others to sin.

I was angry today. Very, very angry. The Preacher tells me to be honest, own up to my sin, give and find forgiveness. I said some unkind words about a brother, and even though I believe that my anger is valid, the words I spoke were (are) not. Those to whom I spoke may take up my anger, and that will be a sin (illegitimate) for them and I will have led them to that sin.

As my anger cools, I will find forgiveness for my my sinful actions from God, and perhaps even my brother.

Ephesians 4:26 Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, and don’t give the Devil an opportunity.

Psalm 4:4 Be angry and do not sin; on your bed, reflect in your heart and be still.
