Thought For The Day

Awards

It may come as a surprise, but certainly you will be excited and happy to know that our Preacher here at Shady Grove has been nominated for Preacher of the Year at the National Best Preacher of the Year Awards to be held in Washington, D. C. in April.

I’m kidding, of course. Not only do we know he would never be nominated for such an award, but there are no such awards to begin with. There are, seemingly, awards for everything these days – the Oscars, the Grammys, the Emmys, the Annies, the VMAs, the CMAs, Kids Choice, TV Land, NFL honors, . . .I could go on, but you get the point.

There are no National Awards for great Preachers, great Churches, Godly individuals, people who live out the Truth through dynamic llove given to the hurting, the hungry, the lost, and the burdened. There are no awards for being faithful to the Word of God, submissive to the power of the Holy Spirit, or commitment to the Church of the Living God.

And that is how it should be of course. We (genuine Believers) are aliens here in a foreign land. We have no hope in this World, only the new World to come when this Earth passes away and a new Heaven and and a new Earth are spoken into existence by God.

Then, of course, there will be awards. Lots of awards. Your life is now under examination – for all the reasons listed above in paragraph three.

How then shall we live?
