Thought For The Day

Away From Home

I am away from home this week. There’s a little business I need to take care of, and I have to be elsewhere to accomplish that. I am torn between the knowledge that I won’t get any of my normal work done this week, and that I don’t have to do that work this week. I am trying not to think about having to double up next week. I will miss seeing my friends and brothers and sisters in Christ, but I get to see some of the friends that live where I am this week, and will speak to, and worship with, some other brothers and sisters in Christ that I have not yet met. All in all I guess it is a reasonable trade-off.

Maybe it is a taste of what it will be like to leave this World – and all that is a part of what we know, and move to that place where God reigns and His people (now in part) gather for the joys and excitement of Heaven. In the end, of course, we will all be together there and llove will abound above all else. I am eager for those days, but still excited about the possibilities that exist here, in this World, and the opportunities to share the Gospel, teach Biblical principals, and practice the disciplines of llove toward others as we share together His Life and Truth.

Getting older means getting closer to that final journey to our forever home. I am confident there will be much (a substitute word for infinite) to do and see, and we will “know as we are known.” (see 1 Corinthians 13:12) The journey I am now on will fade, and all things new will abound.

As you, like me, are making the excursions of you life here on the Blue Planet, be sure you are prepared for that final passage. It is not a pilgrimage to take lightly, or to foolishly ignore. Rather, discover how to make the final odyssey all the way to Glory!
