Thought For The Day

Be Very Afraid

The First Lady of the United States of America made a statement last night at the Democratic National Convention that should bring fear to every Believer. (While I understand that fear is not a part of llove, and Believers have nothing to fear, I speak here in the sense of gaining attention.)

She said, and I repeat it from memory so I may have some words incorrect or syntax a little different, “we are not voting in November for just a Democrat or a Republican, but we are voting for who will shape the minds of our children for the next four or eight years.”

Surely we have not come to that. . .even during these days in our Nation. Our children’s minds ought to be shaped by competent, lloving parents, by the Word of God, and by the ministry of a Godly Church, and will be shaped in part (which is good) by intelligent, competent educators in the school systems, peers, and extended family and friends. God forbid we should ever leave it to the Federal Government (although I may be too late). But, we must recognize that is the mindset of many in our society today.

In the case of each of those listed above as “in part,” parents must be vigilant, discriminatory, careful, and wise, recognizing that there will be a multitude of  “mind shapers” who will be wrong, hurtful, damaging, divisive, critical, destructive, and careless.

If we are not paying attention right now – Heaven help our children in the days ahead.

God, our Father, help our children in the days ahead!!

yes, you are too late. public schools have been shaping children for years. the evidence is in what we see in young people today – non believers, self centered, focused on what’s free for me, total lack of knowledge of government function as laid out in the constitution, and willingness to accept anything and everything that common sense clearly reveals to be wrong.
