Thought For The Day

Christmas

Season’s Greetings and Happy Holidays! America is changing. If persecution of Christianity in the U. S. continues unabated, many of  you will live to see nothing Christ-centered about the “Winter Holiday.”

Christmas is about celebrating the Gospel! The Gospel is the “good news” of salvation through Christ, received by faith on the basis of His expiatory death, His burial, His resurrection and  ascension. There is no other reason for Christmas.

When the time was right (fullness; see Galatians 4:4), God sent His Son into the World. Before that coming of His ministry (not His birth), God sent a herald, a messenger. His name was John, called the baptist. He was very different from society. He wore clothes of the traditional wilderness dweller, and ate wilderness food. He proclaimed Jesus, and His coming to bring redemption through His sacrificial death.

What we need during the 2018 Christmas Season (and all year round) are heralds of Christ’s coming. We need people with “the message” who are willing to be messengers. We need people who practice and promote forgiveness. We need messengers ready to shed the fashion of contemporary society and adopt the regimented garb of obedience to our calling as purveyors of the GOOD NEWS.

Our society does not move further from the celebration of Messiah because there is more money in secularization, but because God’s heralds have lost their enthusiasm for being different.

Look at your focus this Christmas season. Proclaim the Messiah!
