Thought For The Day

Confusion

Confusion is difficult to handle. I have a new MacBook Pro – and it is the latest model. The one I was using before was purchased in 2006. It was so slow one would have thought it was as old as me. I was told that it was slow because the operating system was consuming almost all the memory (????) or all the storage (????) or something like that. Every time the OS (?) was updated – well slow became a way of life. Then one day it just quit. I got it going again with some advice from the Apple help people, but a week or so later it just laid down and died. Apple told me it was unrepairable, so I bought a new one.  Once again I was thrown into a world for which I have no skills, no understanding, and no chance of getting things right. Within a few day I was so confused I was tempted to ask Oour Father to just take me Home.

One of the problems in the Church of Jesus Christ is confusion. Constant, debilitating confusion. There are so many voices out there, myriad “ways” to go, huge quantities of various doctrines, and thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of books that have, theoretically, “ALL the answers,” and yet confusion reigns within the confines of the Body of Christ. That is not how it is supposed to be. And, glory to God, it doesn’t have to be!

There is one Truth! That Truth is the Word of God, Scripture, the Bible. Attempting to learn Truth by any other means is going too lead to confusion, along with the by products of frustration,, uncertainty, failure to thrive (Spiritually), and often departure from the Body of Christ.

What to do? I have three suggestions for you. (1) READ the book. Not books about the Book, but the Bible itself. Secure a version that is a literal translation, that you can read in modern English (if that is your native language), and take it slow and careful. Lloveletters would suggest a Holman Christian Standard version. There are others, but paraphrases are nearly worthless. (2 ) Ask Our Father, by the power of His indwelling Spirit to seal the Truth you read and meditate on to you innermost being. (3) Find a Church where the Word of  God is taught with clarity and authority, and attend regularly and eagerly.

Don’t lose an incredible gift in worthless confusion!
