Thought For The Day

Controlling Peace

In Colossians 3:15 Paul told the Church that one of the goals for Believers is that their “heart” (read: innermost being) be controlled, or “ruled” by peace. While there is no doubt that most folks are looking for genuine peace in one’s daily walk, there is much confusion about how that can come about. Where God gives us the “what,” He also gives the “how.”

Now, here is a task for you. You need your Bible, and several minutes to read three passages of Scripture, followed by a genuine commitment to follow the directions (in part, three here, ) toward finding controlling peace in life.

First, read verses 16 and 17 in Chapter 3. We must settle our issues with God. Let the Gospel be rich in your life, and teach and encourage it in everyone around you. Join with God’s people for Worship, rejoicing, and sharing in the entwinement of lives one with another. Be grateful and let every activity of your life be that which brings glory to God. It is a requirement for peace to be in control.

Second, read verses 1-10 in Chapter 3. We must settle our issues with the World. One cannot be part and parcel of the World and obedient to God. Learning the discipline of saying “no” to the World, and “yes” to God is a requirement for peace to be in control.

Thirdly, read verses 12-14 in Chapter 3. We must settle our issues with others. Commit to allowing the fruit of the Spirit be foremost in your daily walk. Accepting and forgiving all who are part of your life. The pattern for our forgiveness is to imitate our Savior. These are requirements for peace to be in control.

YOU have all the ingredients in you that are required so that “the peace of Christ can control (rule) your heart.” These three practices (and others that follow) allow that to become a reality in your daily walk.
