Thought For The Day

Don’t Forget

The Psalmist, David, was a complex man. A mixture of good and bad, he would manage to get into trouble and, yet, was a man “after God’s own heart.”

In Psalm 139 there are three simple principles that I am confident we need to keep at the forefront of our mind. You might want to open your Bible and read these verses. . .

In verses 13-16, David reminds us that God knows us. While he says that early on in the Psalm, here he reiterates that when we were without form, long prior to our birth, God made us as surely as He created the Earth, every part of us the work of His hands, and planned every facet of our life. What is there to be concerned about?

In verses 17-18, He speaks to us about contemplating the infinite. Perhaps we think small sometimes because we do not see things from God’s perspective. Surely we need to think beyond ourselves and concentrate on what He is thinking. . .especially in regard to our life and His calling in it.

In the closing verses, 23-24, there is, I believe, a call to give ourselves over to allowing Him, by the power of His Spirit in within us, to choose, each day, what is best for us, right for us, good for us, fulfilling His design and purpose in  our life. The Truth is many of us focus on our choices, our path, our way. What kind of person might we be if we allow Him to control our heart and mind?

He is all-knowing and ever-present. There just isn’t anything better than that.
