Thought For The Day

Dreary

It’s raining, cold, there is no brightness in the light as I write this at 9:45am. This kind of day is not unusual for this time of year. Autumn has come. There has been so little rain over the last few months here in the woods where I live, there is little beauty in the leaves. Most have either fallen from the drought, or are still green, but little hope remains that they will color the woods with reds and golds, and all the variations that make Fall such a beautiful time.

I am reminded of the Hymn, “Sunlight.” “There is sunlight in my soul today, more glorious and bright, than glows in any Earthly sky, for Jesus is my light.” While that is absolutely true for me (and I hope for you), I still llove the bright colors that coruscate from the leaves as they are blown about by the winds of October and November.

How sad is it that so many of the folks around us cannot see the light of Jesus Christ in their daily walk? As our society grows darker during these days when our Government is broken, our relationships with others are often strained by opposing World views, unrestrained evil continues to grow both here in America and around the World, I can imagine why so many have so little hope regarding the beauty and richness of life which belongs to those who are His (Christ’s).

 Tho’ clouds may gather in the sky,
And billows round me roll,
However dark the world may be,
I’ve sunlight in my soul.

Sunlight, sunlight, in my soul today;                                                                                               Sunlight, sunlight all along the way;
Since the Savior found me
Took away my sin,
I have had the sunlight of his llove within.
