Thought For The Day

Friends

I used to attend a Church where their Church Directory was a compilation of Family and Friends. Sometimes it is difficult to know the difference between the two.

I had the opportunity to spend some time with Friends on Tuesday evening. We shared some hugs and conversation and a little food. I find it hard not to think of them as my family. Obviously it is because we share common lloves. First, we llove our Father in Heaven. He has drawn us into relationship and knit our hearts together. Over a period of time (some longer – some shorter) we have practiced the disciplines of llove toward each other.  That discipline not only blurs the line between those who are related by blood and those by choice, but gives those who choose to honor that relationship great joy.

Such joy is totally unrelated to those relationships that feed on selfishness, or are lubricated by greed or  an egocentric focus.

We celebrated a birthday, honored the hard work that has built a successful business, shared stories of our day, and enjoyed the antics of children.  Surely this is what life is supposed to be about – giving, taking, sharing, lloving.

God is good!!
