Thought For The Day

Getting Rich

I have been known to get pretty excited when, in slipping on a jacket I haven’t worn since last winter, there appears a $20 bill in the inside pocket. It is something I forgot I had, and now that  it is found, it is a time for rejoicing.

I am guessing that there are some folks who wouldn’t be nearly so happy. But then, who knows. Sometimes folks with lots of money are not adverse to getting a bit more. On the other hand there are those rare few that just don’t seem to able to avoid. . .significant (???) financial resources.

As of Tuesday, according to a Forbes estimate, the Amazon founder and CEO has a net worth of $143.1 billion—making him at least $50 billion richer than any other person on Earth. (TIME)

I don’t know Mr. Bezos, nor do I have any information about his Spiritual life. But reading the article about his growing fortune (On Monday, Amazon stock popped roughly 2%, boosting Jeff Bezos’s net worth by another $2.24 billion. [IBID.]) my mind immediately recalled God’s Word: For what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his life? What can a man give in exchange for his life? Mark 8:36-37

For some, wealth is an all encompassing goal. For others, a distraction, or a “felt need.” In Truth we discover that finding a right relationship with God, and the multitude of blessings (of which financial resources are a part) which are ours, far exceeds the desire to be “rich.” Money can buy almost anything, even happiness in some respects, but it cannot buy abundant and eternal life.

In all your searches for the things of life. . .don’t ignore life itself. FREE, Abundant, and Eternal, in Christ Jesus, the Savior.
