Thought For The Day

Glory

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” In Colossians 1:27 Paul the apostle encourages the Church to remember that what had been a mystery throughout the entirety of the Old Covenant, was now revealed in them and all those who have come through grace, by faith, to Christ as Lord and Savior.

Sometimes I think the Church of the 21 Century needs a little stronger encouragement to live so that this glory that is Christ in us, and the perfect glory that will be ours in eternity when we are ultimately changed into His image, can be clearly seen by the masses of people who have yet to discover the Good News of redemption through the blood of Christ on Calvary’s cross.

The Truth is the Church often lives as if there is, for the daily walk of the Believer, only effort, work, struggle, hardship, trial, and testing. We have lost the concept of the glory of Christ in us! We miss the reality that the ever-present Spirit of God is in us working as hard as we allow changing us into the very image of Christ. We have forgotten that every Spiritual blessing is ours – here and now – and we can live in victory over sin, with power to overcome the conflict engendered by the Enemy, and experience, right now, the glory of His life in us.

I long to see that glory on Sunday morning when we stand to sing the praises of His glorious name. I long to hear the glory of His power and majesty when the Scripture is opened and clearly proclaimed. I ache for the glory that is available in our day to day struggle with life in a Society which rejects the God of creation and His Word of Truth, as we build an overcoming faith in Christ’s victory over sin and death and weakness and lethargy and indifference and bitterness and hatred.

“Christ in YOU, the Hope of GLORY.” (Colossians 1:27 emphasis mine)
