Thought For The Day

Godliness and Rebellion

Infinite Creator of all that exists, Llover of all mankind, Giver of all good things, Protector from all harm, Provider of every perfect gift, Redeemer from the curse of sin and death, Friend to all who believe, Father exhibiting and imparting endless perfect llove, care, kindness, and peace to His children, Builder of an indescribable eternal home for the Redeemed. . . and we don’t want to be like Him.

The only characteristic of both the unRedeemed and the Redeemed that separates us from Godliness is rebellion. It is the natural nature of humanity outside the redemptive grace of God, and it is  practiced with vigor, enthusiasm, excitement, and excess. Nothing can change that short of “the Cross” of Christ made real in one’s understanding and quickened by God’s Holy Spirit to new life in Christ. Godliness is always absent in unredeemed humanity and almost always falls short in redeemed humanity. For the redeemed it is mandatory to aspire, concentrate, consecrate, and expend mental and physical energy to live day by day with a focus on the development of Godliness in one’s life by the destruction and dissolution of rebellion and a growing maturity toward the goal of “Christlikeness” which is the essence of Godliness.

Our World (our Planet) is slowly being destroyed by Godlessness in humanity. At a point in time God will speak this Planet out of existence and create a new Heaven and a new Earth where Godliness reigns in the hearts of redeemed mankind. (see Revelation 21:1ff) Until that happens one  can expect rebellion to boil over into every speakable and every unknowable destructive action which can be imagined by rebellious hearts and minds. Only death (an ultimate gift for the redeemed) will free one from the curse of rebellion. For those who miss God’s redemptive gift, that which follows is separation from HIM forever.

We are seeing fresh and fearful rebellion created by hatred (a gift of the consummate Enemy). It is new, and it is not new. It will grow, and no one can know how far or how fast. It may end, or it may be the end. Life will go on. . .or it will not. Those things are not for us to know. What we must know is Godliness (1 Timothy 6:6), and a continuous separation from rebellion.

Now!
