Thought For The Day

Good Days

I have decided to repeat something I heard yesterday. . .and leave it at that (sorta). I was in the car and the radio was tuned to WBAP 820. It was just before noon. Rush Limbaugh was talking about Christmas movies and said one of his favorites is “It’s A Wonderful Life,” with Jimmy Stewart. Mr. Limbaugh had been visiting in his home town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, saying it reminded him, in some ways, of the movie and the more wholesome times that are pictured in the town of “Bedford Falls.” (My paraphrase of his words.)

I know some folks get upset if anyone mentions the “good old days”. . .but I agree with Mr. Limbaugh. Hearing the “news,” reading the newspapers, following the stream of “stuff” one sees on the Internet, is enough to make one wish our Nation could return to the ostensible morality of those days. I understand that there were some  bad times then as well, but at least, if memory serves, there was not quite as much apparent “evil.”

I think I may watch it (the movie) again this year and dream of life in the “1950’s and 60’s.” (Yes, I know the movie was made in 1946.)
