Thought For The Day

Gunmetal Days

This is my least favorite kind of day. It’s Saturday morning and it’s cold and windy and somber. The whole World, from my perspective sitting here looking out my window, is suffering from a lack of sunshine, warmth, brightness, and excitement for a new day. Of course I know that is not true, and I speak only for my little view out this particular window. Somewhere it is bright, warm, clear, and anticipation for the day is filling hearts and minds with joy.

And while this momentary feeling of lifelessness will end, I am sure there are people who struggle this way, every day, regardless of the weather, or the brightness of the sunshine, or the reality that excitement for each new day is no longer a part of their life.

I remind myself that tomorrow is my favorite day. Friends, family, praying, singing, wonderful words of Life being proclaimed, intertwining our lives around the common characteristics of our Savior, will fill our hearts and day with joy. Never mind the elements, or the steel colored skies, or the cold that whistles through the air. We will remind each other how infinitely God lloves us, empowers us to llove each other, and calls us toward maturity in the faith by sharing Truth from His Word and our own personal victories.

I wish. . .I pray. . .I hope. . .that all people would discover life abundant in the midst of the monochrome, somber days, when bleak skies reach all the way to the horizon (figuratively, and psychologically). For it is indeed in the heart and mind of man that Sonshine is the escape to peace and joy and life rich with blessing. The enriching Truth of God’s Word, and the collective worship of God’s people (either and/or both) is the catalyst that brings to an end feelings of despair and disheartenment, replacing them with contentment and tranquility.

The view looks better already. I need to get out there. . .and enjoy another wonderful day granted to me by my lloving Father.

For some, even those in the fold, excitement for each new day has become elusive due to health issues. I live very near One. How to inspire excitement in such situations??
