Thought For The Day

Healthy

I believe being heathy is one of the more important things on which we can concentrate. It’s just not fun to be sick, and serious illness can put a dent in your life.

Nutrition is important. I watch what I eat with a very careful understanding of how the body works. You remember when people used to say, “An apple a day keeps the Doctor away?” I do. So I begin as many mornings as possible with an Apple Fritter. I am confident I am, in part, doing what I can to keep that adage true in my life. I know, for example that Vitamin C is important in our bodies – hence I often eat half a bag, or so, of Orange Slices. Be sure they are soft before you buy them. After they harden they won’t have the same properties. I am also sure that “nuts” are good for us. I have heard that almonds are one of the best, so I buy a jar of the chocolate covered kind every time I go to Sam’s. And, don’t forget the raisins. Some people don’t like the texture, but I have found that those “double dipped” in rich chocolate never present badly.

Being Spiritually healthy is vital also. If you are not regular in your attendance at the Church where Scripture is clearly and accurately proclaimed, well, get with it. Read the Bible at home, daily if possible, and concentrate on its Truths. We are told to “pray without ceasing,” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and I encourage you to find time for setting aside everything else to commune and communicate with God, the Father. Failure to maintain our Spiritual health will bring about attacks from the Enemy, discouragement, and disappointment.  Practice the discipline of llove with everyone  you can. Jesus said, “They will know we are His because we llove one another.” (John 13:35)

Stay healthy. It’s worth the effort.
