Thought For The Day

How Many?

How many people are “running for President” of the United States? Seems like more than usual to me, but then, I sometimes don’t notice these things this early. I know there were a lot of candidates on the Republican debate stage last time around.

Why would anyone want that job? Money? Prestige? Power? Free travel around the World? There is plenty of all that at stake – including a big, white, house to live in temporarily.

I am assuming our current President will be the presumptive candidate on the Republican side. Democrats have a few runners who will last till the end and actually stand the chance of winning the nomination. Libertarian, Green, Constitution, and 29 other “ballot-qualified” parties (yep, 29. Bet you didn’t know that) will probably be putting forth a candidate or two.

My concern, more than who will ultimately win the “prize,” is when it is the right time to petition God regarding which individual He will bring to the Presidency in the United States. (see Daniel 2:21-22; Romans 13:1-6)

The right time is NOW! It is always time to commune with God regarding His movements in bringing this World to His conclusion. He may end this World as we know it before the next Presidential election. He may allow it to drone on for another 1000 years. . .or more.

Begin now to pray for America and its human leadership. I have concerns for my children and my grandchildren, and the environment in which they will live should our Savior tarry in His coming. It is not the calling of the Church to control, or attempt to control, any aspect of the political spectrum (we are sojourners here, and members of the Kingdom of God). But it is our calling to pray for all things, including our Nation and its political leadership. I pray that God will bring genuine Christ-centered leadership to America. But I am wise enough to know that He is Sovereign, and whatever occurs – in any matter – is His Will and His alone.

I trust Him. Whether things get better or worse in this Country I llove, I trust Him.
