Thought For The Day

Incompetent

Of the difficult things one who lloves the Church of Jesus Christ must endure, it is the dying of a Church family, and the war of words and actions that most often precede such a death, which is most injurious. When the fundamental cause of that war is the sabotage of a heartless, and usually (apparently) unredeemed individual, or group of such individuals, the struggle is difficult.

When that war is perpetrated by leadership within the Body, it is agonizing. Sometimes an individual, certainly a redeemed saint, but incompetent for the task of leading, feeding, maturing the Church, comes to power. Often that person avoids, or may not even be aware, of his failures. As he discovers that reality, and it often takes an extended period of time, rather than stop the journey, he begins to exhibit the worst characteristics of the human heart. There is first of all a cessation of llove (if that ever existed), followed by anger, bullying, retribution, and disassociation. People who are part of the family of God are damaged by such actions and collateral destruction is widespread.

It is not unusual for others who have been part of the perpetrator’s influence to join in the havoc that follows increasing the shame in, and desecration of, God’s Kingdom.

These wars may last for weeks, months, or years. Everyone who is part of the Body suffers, including those who are responsible for the spiritual mayhem. Chaos is the order of the time, and in the end the war brings death into a Church (even if it survives), and serves to usurp the Glory of God and present to the World the hypocritical stereotypical image of a Believer.

Why would God allow such to be a part of His Kingdom? I am sure I do not know the answer to that question. I do know that God, unlike many human beings, demonstrates his infinite llove for His people. He is never a bully, always seeks what is best for them, and provides for their welfare in relationship to their obedience (Matthew 6:33). One who believes that another path exists for a “shepherd of the flock” is mistaken. Obediently mirroring the Nature, Holiness, and Llove of God, speaking the Truth, and building (as opposed to destroying) the Kingdom of God is the only path for those who would lead the Church of Jesus Christ.

I must confess that I believe the Father will not take lightly the war waged on His Church by those who would continue when such incompetence is apparent. I do know that our Lord is a builder of men and women who are “in the Faith,”  and leaders who are His would never purposefully brings vitiation to the Kingdom.
