Thought For The Day

Interrupted

Jesus came to Jerusalem to die. It was God’s design before the foundation of the World. The Son of God was there right on time. He would die at Passover, the perfect Lamb of God would be the final sacrifice for all mankind.

Pilate, tried Jesus twice. Herod once. Three trials were held by the religious leaders. Pilate’s judgement was simple – “I find no fault in this man.” (Luke 23:4)

While Pilate was considering his judgement  of Jesus, he was interrupted by a note from his wife. She told him she had been troubled and that he should, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for today I’ve suffered terribly in a dream because of Him!” (Matthew 27:19)

Pilate could not have changed the infinite plan of God to redeem, through the blood of Jesus of Nazareth, all who would believe. He (Pilate) was not sealing the fate of the Messiah, but he did seal his own. Had he listened to the wisdom of the interruption, perhaps history would judge him with less vitriol.

We could learn from this simple interruption. It is vitally important to whom we listen. Joseph listened to the wise words of a dream that told him to take Mary, who was with child, as his wife. Magi who came to Bethlehem some two years after Jesus’s birth, were warned in a dream to return home without conferring again with Herod. Now Pilate is warned by revelation of a dream to make a wise decision.

Be careful to whom you listen. Wise words are always worth hearing. They can change your life – forever!
