Thought For The Day

It’s Pure

The fiasco in Flint, Michigan taught all of us a lesson, I hope. Clean water is vital to life. A few years ago I traveled to Nigeria, Africa with HELP, an organization which provides water wells for some of the most needy people in Nigeria. It was amazing to see the difference that clean water brought to their lives. The wells provided actually became the center of new villages as people found a source of water other than muddy puddles after a rain, or the terribly polluted water of other scarce sources.

Psalm 19:9 reminds us that he Word of God is pure, or substituting a correct translation, clean. It is missing the impurities and imperfections flowing from the minds of men and women who have failed to discover the Truth of God’s Word. If I have learned anything over the years of my life (and there are many years, and many things learned) it is that men cannot always be trusted, but God is infinitely trustworthy.

As I have said, over and over again, much to the chagrin of several, the Word of God speaks clearly and perfectly to every issue of life. It is the only source of perfection in relationship to Truth. It is the only place where there is no filthiness or corruption or hedonism to be found whereby men may be led astray.

It is the only Word that will endure forever – and exactly because it is absolutely True. Many cultures, societies, and individuals have attempted to destroy or lessen the authority of God’s Word. All have failed. It is God’s revelation of Himself to mankind.
