Thought For The Day

Kids and Care

Have you ever watched “the best” at work? I have. Did it this past week. It is always a joy and privilege to be in the presence of greatness. We often measure people by standards related to academic achievement or career path trajectory, rather than by their impact on the life of others.

I know people who, in just a matter of minutes can capture the focus of a child, win their attention, and make what may be a life-changing impact on a malleable mind.

I saw it in music. The leaders, energetic, capable, committed “letting it all hang out” created an excitement that moved little hands and feet, and planted a song in a willing heart.

I saw it on the sports field. Keeping up with the boundless energy of youngsters is never easy, but Masters of sport and gamesmanship made the kids beg for more, and more, and more, and they got it.

I saw it in the Teachers who sowed the Truth clearly, accurately, and now allow the Spirit of God to reveal in still clear minds the reality of life in Christ.

I saw it in the creativity of those who make “WOW” the only word that fits the creating of an environment that grabs a child and won’t let go.

I saw it in the leadership of those who work behind the scenes, long hours, constant pressure, besieged by obstacles, but no retreat.

I saw greatness this week. I am blessed by the women and men of Shady Grove Baptist Church’s Mission Team. If you want the best, look there.
