Thought For The Day

Live Longer, or Live Better

It may be impossible to find someone who is not focused on living longer. Even those who readily admit they are ready for Heaven, just don’t seem to want to go there today.

Well there may be some good news. Researchers in Australia have published in the journal POLS Medicine that they know the behaviors that will allow one “to live longer.”

They measured the length of life in a group of thousands of participants utilizing six behavioral studies and concluded that when certain things are done right, and others not done at all, longevity is increased.

The researchers scored the participants on six behavior measures: smoking, alcohol use, dietary behavior, physical inactivity, sedentary behavior, and sleep. (TIME)

I won’t bore you with the details, but suffice it to say, we (people) have been searching a long time for how to live longer. Perhaps because the Scripture indicates our days are numbered by God, we ought to focus on living better rather than longer.

Here are six (random) Truths that make life better:

1)Llove what you do, and do it with all your heart. (Proverbs 3:5-6)  2) Build relationships with others based on Truth and Llove. (1 Peter 1:22)  3) Give yourself away to those things that matter in life and jettison those that don’t. (Matthew 6:33)  4) Learn how to genuinely llove others and practice it daily. (Hebrews 13:1) 5) Find a group of like-minded individuals and meet regularly to share what is vital. (Hebrews 10:25)  6) Stop complaining, discover the positive in every circumstance, and work toward that. (Philippians 3:10)

Your life will be better, filled with excitement, and rich with joy.

Now, if you are not a Believer, and you are really interest in living longer, discover the wonder of GRACE alone, through FAITH alone, in CHRIST alone, and you will live forever.  (Romans 10:9-10,13)

Amen, Forever never ends and had no beginning. I believe it is you that has described it as “momentary.” It is a fun exercise to try to imagine Life without “time.”
