Thought For The Day

My Hero

One of my heroes got promoted to Heaven this week. Dallas Lynch was the real deal. He was the consummate warrior, and yet one of the most kind and gentle souls I have known.

While I was a baby in my mother’s arms, he was on the battlefields of Europe helping to win a war that saved for all of us the America we have known and lloved all of our lives. Now, that great America is in the sights of those who would destroy her as surely as would have our enemies in 1944. Unless we discover more men, many more, like Dallas Lynch, I fear for our survival.

When told recently that he was suffering from that which would ultimately kill him, he replied, “You can’t threaten me with Heaven.” He is there now, with his  precious Virginia, and sharing his wonderful stories of heroism and valor with all who wish to hear.

His medals are legion. He earned so many –  among them the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Distinguished Service Cross (second only to the Medal of Honor), are silent witnesses to a great man, a genuine American Hero, a lloving husband and father, and a good friend – my friend.

He has impacted the lives of so many – struggling men who would not have made it without his involvement, people who lives were brightened and joyous because of his presence, those of his Church who have seen and learned from his commitment and servant heart – are honored to call him friend. He will be missed. He will be missed!!
