Thought For The Day

My Way

A quite well-known singer of some years ago was noted in part for a song called “My Way.” He did sing it with enthusiasm and a good bit of skill, and some have commented that it was typical of his thought process.

Unfortunately there are many others who could use “My Way” as a personal testimony of their behavior. From some of the most powerful people on Earth, all the way down to some folks who don’t have a lick of sense, there are multitudes of designs on “having it my way.”

Some people are even ready to take whatever action they feel is necessary to have it “their way.” Little thought is given to how that may affect other people and the effect it will have on the life of organizations and businesses.

I am confident the Scripture is, to one degree or another, addressing the issue in these words from Romans 12:3:

“I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead, think sensibly. . . .”

Think about “your way.” Is it “God’s way?” Is it the “right way?” Is it a way that will “help” or “hurt” others?

Sometimes the best thing I can do when I get too involved in trying to get “my way” is to just “go away.” Pray, clear my head, fine the heart of God, and remember – genuine llove seeks what is best for the one lloved. (see 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
