Thought For The Day

No Surprise

God will not be surprised when Iowa finishes their political work and someone stands on top of the heap. Others will be. Many will be surprised that their man or woman did not do as well as they had hoped. Then, everyone will move on.

How does one pick someone to lead a Country? Does that person need to have some experience  in any particular area? Does that person need to be cognizant of American history? Does that person need to have control of everything that is going on in Government?

Maybe what is needed is a person who knows how to pick people to be part of the leadership team who are competent in the area they will lead. I would tend to believe that it is not necessarily one person that needs expertise in leading our Nation’s Judicial System, while at the same time possessing expertise in handling our negotiations with other Nations in regard to International Trade.

I wonder how many people have thought about who the person ultimately elected to be President of the Unites States will choose to lead each area of our National concerns. Just because one is limited in one’s experience in a particular area, he/she should not be excluded from consideration. The question is – how good at choosing others for leadership is the elected person?

It is similar, I believe, to choosing a Pastor. If all that is considered is his preaching style, intellectual mastery of  Scripture, and ability to communicate with folks, with no concern about how competent he will be in selecting and mentoring staff and volunteers to lead the congregation to successful ministry following the design of God, big trouble is on the horizon.

Many a Church has suffered at the hands of a Leader who cannot consistently lead by delegation those areas that are not his expertise. Many a Nation has suffered at the hands of a politician who choses for leadership those to whom he is indebted without regard for their competence at the task assigned.

Difficult choices, difficult times. Concerning your comments on having suffered, I think most leaders like to make people suffer (serve them, follow rules they will not folloW, take other peoples money). All forms of Government in Texas seem to fit the same mold (as the IRS). LOL.
