Thought For The Day

Number 13

There is  nothing magical about the number 12. Jesus chose 12 to follow Him as Disciples while He walked through this life. It could have ben 6, or 15. It’s possible that we might know who would have been number 13.

Matthew and Luke tell us about a “rich young ruler” (no name given) who came to Jesus and asked questions about life. Matthew tells us he was young and rich. Luke tells us he was a Ruler. He asked all the right questions – and got the right answers. If you pay close attention it is clear that he, like the other 12 Disciples, was invited to “follow Me” (Jesus). Read the narrative in Matthew 19:16-20.

The young man’s most serious spiritual defect was his reluctance to confess his Spiritual bankruptcy. Jesus dealt with the issues on the basis of the “law” to show God’s standard, and the absolute fatality of trying to find salvation in one’s own merit, He was self-righteous. He lloved himself  and his possessions more the the life Jesus offered. He walked away in unbelief – with the call of Discipleship hanging in the air.

What about the call of Christ in your life? To inherit life you have to die to self – surrender to the call of Christ!

Just do it!!
