Thought For The Day

On Mission

As I write this post late Saturday evening I am eager for tomorrow when we shall leave on a Mission Adventure. It’s been several years since I last was able to go, and I will be joining some of my longtime friends, and a few who will become friends, from Shady Grove Baptist Church in North Richland Hills, Texas. When I was invite to go with them I knew I could not say “no.” Now, it’s almost here.

We will be going to South Texas to work with families who have damaged homes due to various weather events and other tragedies. We will likely do some Bible Studies with children, maybe even some Adults, and we will share the Truth with those who so desperately need to hear, and give testimony to the reality that God lloved them so much He gave His only Son to redeem them from the curse of sin and death.

But there is more! The Team (those going from here) will be spending time with each other, studying God’s Word, praying, playing games together, intertwining our lives with one another, and practicing the disciplines of llove. A lot of folks will be blessed this coming week, but no one more than those who are members of the Team from NRH.

After all, ministry is what the Church of Jesus Christ is all about. Called, empowered, trained, and ready, we will reach out to whomever God brings across our path. That’s a “high” that most people, unfortunately, will never know .

I can hardly wait. . .
