Thought For The Day

Parts

I have spent the better part of the last couple of weeks attempting to get a “part” for my chainsaw. I never cease to be amazed that the people who sell parts have one of two problems: 1) They were born in the Year of our Lord, yesterday. Or, 2) they know absolutely nothing about the “tools” for which they are selling parts, or both.

I found the part I needed in the online inventory of my dealer (Sears), which was after I purchased (sight unseen – it was in an enclosed package -foolish me for not checking) the “correct” part from an ignorant child (see 1 and 2 above) at my local Sears store. I ordered the part, and when it came, it was the wrong part. I secured permission to return it, and re-ordered the correct part. When it came, it was the same WRONG part. The second time I called to get permission to return the WRONG part, they said I could return it only by paying a $7 fee. WRONG ANSWER!

Now, several days later, while I am talking on the phone to a “parts supervisor” (see 1 & 2 above), I am told that the part I need is no longer available, and obviously “I” am mistaken about it being in the parts inventory. At the same time (really) I receive an e-mail telling me “Sears Parts” is sorry for having sent the wrong parts, and the part I need is available if I would like to order it. I am assured they will get it right this time. One of us NEEDS HELP!

Meanwhile, I remind myself that a couple of weeks before I started looking for this part, a “Sears Parts Specialist,”(see 1 and 2 above) told me Sears (Craftsman) never made “green” chainsaws – only “red.” I just decided to agree with him and confessed that I had painted mine green, stenciled CRAFTSMAN on the side, and was trying to fool them.

Now, all of that to say this: Get yourself in a Church where you can get all the “parts” you need to be a mature, functioning, Believer. Find music that focuses on praising God, not glorifying man. Find a message that proclaims the clear, accurate, enduring TRUTH of God’s Word. Immerse yourself in a congreation of Believers who llove one another, set their minds on Heavenly things, and practice the discipline of absolute obedience. Avoid those who would mislead you (see 1 and 2 above).
