Thought For The Day

Pursuit

There is some controversy regarding the things that we “pursue.” Lots of folks spend more time pursuing those that ultimately won’t matter, than those that are vital for a rich, full life here on Earth, and eternal life in that place we call Heaven.

Paul reminded the young preacher, Timothy, to be about what is vitally important: Now you, man of God, . . .pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, llove, endurance, and gentleness. (1 Timothy 6:11)

Some, if not all, of those characteristics are not easy to come by. While we are “positionally” righteous, living in the light of that righteousness is somewhat more challenging. Others on that list fall nicely into the category of characteristics that must be continually pursued with patience and diligence.

A rich trove of endurance, combined with growing faith, allows Godliness, gentleness, and llove, to immerse our life in the process of being conformed (by God’s Spirit) to the image of our Savior. (see Romans 8:29)

One could number forever the distractions which keep us from focusing on the right pursuits. One excellent place to learn habits that will direct us rightly toward such things is the local Bible-believing Truth teaching, people lloving Church somewhere near you. Find it!
