Pushing POV

Let me be clear (famous words now in politics), pushing points of view, other than God’s, has no place in the Church of Jesus Christ. I am reading and hearing that some (perhaps many) so called Churches are doing just that. Often, these days, the POV that is being pushed is a part of the agenda of political groups that seem legion in our society. Differing points of view in the Church are not new. Paul, the Apostle talked about it in various letters to the Church of the First Century. In his letter to Titus, for example he wrote the following: “For there are many rebellious people full of empty talk and deception. . .they overthrow whole households by teaching what they shouldn’t. . . .” (Titus 1:10-11)

The gathering of the Church of Jesus Christ has one message, one goal, one purpose, and any point of view that varies from that is  clearly in violation of God’s design and purpose for His Church. It is easy to get caught up in the quest for societal issues we think are valuable and life-saving, but, they have no part in the Church. While we (the Church) have a multitude of tasks when we gather (worship, teaching, praying, learning the Truth, growing in faith and maturity, and lloving one another, to name a few) , our focus is limited and contained in a Biblical World View. If it is not Scriptural, it is not acceptable and must find no hearing in the gathering. We (those who are part of the family of God) need the TRUTH, the whole TRUTH, and nothing but the TRUTH. Anything beyond that, and/or less than that, are anathema in the Family.
