Thought For The Day

Right Hand of Majesty

My attention was riveted on the Word the Preacher was expounding on Wednesday evening in Bible Study. We are working through the book of Hebrews and while we have been at it for several weeks, we have only arrived at verse three of Chapter One. He’s a little slow.

Speaking of the fact that Christ, the Savior, is now seated at the “right hand of the Majesty on high. . .” (see Hebrews 1:3) he made the following statement:

The right hand is the place of power, authority, and honor. It is also the position of subordination, implying that the Son is under the authority of the Father. The seat that Christ has taken is the throne of God where he rules as sovereign Lord.

He then began to discuss the idea that the “place” corresponds to some of the “characteristics” of Christ Himself, and because Christ lives in us, by the power of His Spirit, those characteristics should dominate our life as well.

We must live in the “Power” of the Spirit who is our “empowerment (see Acts 1:8).

We must accept and utilize the “Authority” of the Word (see John 1:1ff) not only for our life, but as the ruling proclamation for our society and World.

We must recognize that not only are we are people of “Honor,” but we must “honor” one another (see Romans 12:10)

We are required by Truth to “submit” (Hebrews 13:17; 1 Corinthians 16:16) to leaders and to others in the Lord’s design.

It is amazing that we are willing to spend so much time on the “sins of commission” and so little time on the “sins of omission.”

To fail to live in the “Power” is to be disobedient – sin!

To accept less than the full “Authority” of the Word, and make that the clear emphasis of the Church for the World is to be disobedient – sin!

To fail to give “Honor” to Christ and His children (people, the Church) is to be disobedient – sin.

Our unwillingness to “subordinate” ourselves to one another is disobedience – sin.

What if he (the Preacher) is right? Could be some of us need forgiveness for previously undiscovered “sins.”

Agreed (to all of your conclusions (including the disobedience).
as we look into the near future, we will not be able to acquiesce to our current leaders (as we have for so long).
Hopefully God will raise up a “judge” to drive the current group of Malcontents back into the holes that they belong.
