Thought For The Day

Risks

Sometimes a “headline” from a news story captures my attention (I think that is what it is supposed to do) and I can’t help myself from reading at least part of the story. I usually quit reading when it appears to me that the writer is prejudiced toward a preconceived construct that is without much intellectual value. Anyway, the headline got me to thinking (a dangerous thing these days).

These are the top ten risks to the World in 2017. (TIME)

I knew I wouldn’t go far when the first few words were: Welcome to the “geopolitical recession.” With the election of Donald Trump, the G-zero world is now full upon us. The triumph of an “America first” foreign policy marks a fundamental break with decades of U.S. exceptionalism. . .

OK, enough already!

But I did think for a few moments about some risks for the World in 2017. I don’t have any order for them, or a specific number, but here are three of many:

The Bride of Christ will continue to refuse to demand that all Believers be about their God given assignment by consistently recognizing “we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, ‘Be reconciled to God.’” 2 Corinthians 5:20

The Bride of Christ will fail to stand firm in certifying that their is only ONE PATH to salvation and eternal life. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

A significant portion of the Bride of Christ will fail to discover that llove is a discipline that must be practiced without fail within the confines of the Body of Christ, and cannot be practiced with people outside the Body of Christ other than those with whom we have a relationship (e.g. How can I be patient with someone, or kind to someone, I do not know). Scripture clearly says: Llove is patient, llove is kind. Llove does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. Llove finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Llove never ends. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Llove is a discipline, not an emotion. Read the Book!
