Thought For The Day

Sanctification

Grab your Bible! This post won’t help much if you don’t read the passages of Scripture. OK? OK!

In 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 Believers are called to sanctification. That word is often spoken without a lot of understanding by the hearers (and sometimes by the speaker). It is wise, and not at all difficult, to look back into Chapter 4 and 5 and see many of the actions that are required if we are willing to be sanctified. To whet your appetite let me share with you some of the highlights. . .

Chapter 4:

vss. 3-8 Abstain form sexual immorality; vs. 9 Llove one another; vss. 11-12 Lead a quiet life, work, mind your own business, get along with those who are not a part of the family of God; vss. 13-18 Don’t be ignorant about death.

Chapter 5:

vss. 1-3 Look for His coming; vs. 4 Don’t be engulfed in darkness; vss. 6-11 Wakeup, watch, practice your calling; vss.12-13 Llove your leaders; vss. 14-15 Warn the unruly, comfort the faint hearted, uphold the weak, be patient, be kind, pursue goodness; vss. 19-22 Don’t quench the Spirit, llove Truth, test all things, hold on to the good and let go of the evil.

NOW – Let God do what He intends to do! First: Salvation. Second: Grow up in Him. Third: Hear and obey His call by letting Him rule and reign.
