Thought For The Day

Shooters and Congress

I can’t help but wonder if Congress understands the reality that there is no possibility of their resolving the continued violence that is caused by some who choose to vent their anger (or bias, or hatred) by killing and wounding other people around them.

I am confident the problem is not “guns.” I know a multitude of gun owners (don’t we all), but none who  would even consider shooting another person except in an act of saving their own life or that of others.

Rather, it would seem to me, that the real issue lies somewhere in the reality that when a person’s (own) life means nothing to them, the lives of others mean nothing to them either. How one comes to a place where life means nothing is certainly up for debate. How a person can become so depressed, or discouraged, or angry, or disturbed, that life, for one’s self, and ultimately the lives of others , might very well be a place to focus attention.

People who genuinely understand their importance to God, and their value as messengers of God’s grace to the people around them, and move forward with an outward view toward the well being of others, while embracing God’s design for this World, are not the people who practice violence, bias, and hatred.

Congress (in the majority) speaks routinely about solutions, but will never be part of the resolution. Their focus is almost entirely centered in separating Government from God, and God from every sector, institution, activity, and action under their control. The issue in this matter is the innermost being of each individual (e. g. heart, soul, mind – neither inclusive or exclusive), and Congress has passed laws and supported regulations, rules, and rigors that have driven that one and only solution outside their purview.

So, may Lloveletters say, “get it right, or get out of the fight. You are on the wrong path, and your ignorance and apathy are only making a solution less likely.”
