Significant Words
Sometimes the most important words can be missed simply because we don’t see the value without a little help. I am grateful when I get that help, especially when it come from the Word of God.
Last evening our Preacher was giving us a preview of what his message would be about next Sunday. . .first Sunday in September. He doesn’t normally do that so I was listening closely to see what was up.
He directed us to Ephesians 2:4, and these two words. . . “but God.”
We all got to thinking. . .
I was lost in sin and chained to death. . .but God. . .
Finding hope at that moment was illusive. . .but God. . .
I knew it was the last time I would see her and my heart was breaking. . .but God. . .
We just couldn’t handle the news. . .but God. . .
I have tried over and over only to fail. . .but God. . .
There it was. Clear and plain. “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love. . . .”
All the time, every time, when life is just tough, and burdens are heavy, and everything seems to be headed in the wrong direction, when we would consider everything lost, when despair comes, and we think we are like all mankind. . .the lifeline appears. . .but God!
