Thought For The Day

I have been told it is not wise to link politics and the Church. I just can’t miss this opportunity. Sometimes those in leadership roles do such similar things.

Our World is in a real mess right now, at least as I see it. It seems to me that the President of the United States could be focusing a little more on some of those issues and being a help in resolving them. I suppose if one asked, one would be told that he is doing exactly that – and very well, they would add. Really? Here’s an interesting piece of the picture:

Obama on Tuesday was starting a three-day West Coast trip, scheduled to attend at least five fundraising events in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles less than four months ahead of midterm elections that could change Washington’s balance of power. The trip comes as Obama is dealing with a series of high-profile tests of his presidency, from Eastern Europe to the Middle East to the Southern U.S. border. The downing of a Malaysian airliner over Ukraine last week, the eruption of war in Gaza between Israelis and Palestinians, and the humanitarian crisis caused by the influx of Central American minors seeking to cross the border has put a strain on the White House. But on the fundraising trail Obama remains a potent draw among the Democratic Party’s wealthy donors, who pay up to $32,400 to be in intimate settings with him. I know several Preachers who, at the expense of preaching the Gospel, urging the faithful on to maturity in “the faith,” reaching out to a lost World as “salt” and “light,” and practicing and expecting their Congregation to practice the two “greatest commandments,” are spending an inordinate amount of time “fundraising.” Gotta pay those bills, I guess.

Unfortunately the Truth is lost here. I am sure the President is the Democratic National Committee’s best fundraiser. They need those funds to influence the next election toward their candidates. Meanwhile, I can’t help but believe the distractions of these constant trips take attention from the needs of our Nation.

Some Preachers have lost the Truth as well. The Scripture is clear that if one is about the clear and accurate proclamation of the Truth, urging the faithful on to maturity in “the faith” (individual righteousness), practicing and demanding others practice the two “great commandments,” all the while being “salt” and “light” in society, God will provide whatever funding is needed for all ventures in His will. What God wills, God supports.

Do I believe that? I know that!! Let me give you a starter scripture – there are multitudes more. Matthew 6:33. See, I told you so.
