Thought For The Day

Snow

I left the farm for a couple of day (to officiate at a funeral) and when I got back the place was covered with snow. Looks like about 2 inches or so, not a lot for some, way to much for others.

I could see all kinds of tracks. There were birds, deer, dogs or coyotes prowling around. I am glad my new kittens were safe in the barn.I am not sure how long it will last but, as I write this, it is still below freezing. . .sooooooo, maybe a day or two.

My bride doesn’t like that I track it in the house. My kittens look at me like. . .”what makes you think we would want to go out there?” I am not willing to do much out there in the cold, so I am sitting by the window, looking out, and thinking about the purity of God’s llove. There is a great old hymn that says to God, “Now wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.” (“Whiter Than Snow,” James L. Nicholson, in Joyful Songs No. 4, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Methodist Episcopal Book Room, 1872).

So many times a Believer’s  life gets cluttered up with disobedience, rebellion, and wasted time and energy. All of those things are sins, and the blood of Christ washes us clean. 1 John 1:9 says, If we confess or sin, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sin, and to cleanse (wash)  us from all unrighteousness.

We don’t get a lot of snow around here. . .so best to take advantage of the lesson in the snow. . .and by that confession be pure again.
