Thought For The Day

Stop

Coming up the hill, on the long driveway to my home, just as one reaches the top of the hill, there is a STOP sign. It is quite large,  octagonal, red, with white letters, and very noticeable. Sometimes people ask me, after they pass it, “why do you have that sign on your driveway?” Well?????. “So you will stop?????” At least I hope it will make people think regarding what they are about to do. All the people I trust have an invitation to pass that way. Others, not so much.

I am thinking about moving it to the Auditorium door “down to the Church.” Perhaps people will ask why it is there. If so, I can evaluate the success of getting those who pass those doors to STOP and consider what one is about to do. These days, most days, almost always, I think that is vital.

One is about to enter an area where individuals and families will gather for the purpose of a collective encounter with the  Omnipotent, Omniscient, Infinite Creator of Heaven and Earth. One will hear, and perhaps join in, with others who sing praises, and songs of joy to Him, hear words and music that remind most people of His wonder, power, grace, peace, comfort, and plan for the present and future. Prayers will be offered to Him who hears and answers, lloves and consoles, and convicts of righteousness or sin.  One will hear the TRUTH of God’s Word proclaimed with clarity and authority, and all will be invited to accept that TRUTH without doubt or wavering, and live their life by it’s precepts and concepts, under the authority and power of His Spirit. One will be encouraged to understand that once having heard the Truth they become accountable for obeying it, or rejecting it – and the responsibility of that choice remains in force eternally.

Therefore, it might be wise to STOP and consider what one is about to do. It is not insignificant.
