Studying James

Returning to the book of James is always a joy. There is so much information regarding the ability of Believers, under the leadership of the Spirit, to become more like Christ. Every time we study it we find new insights  and enlightenments, not because the Word of God has changed, but because we have changed by practicing the disciplines shared with us in this wonderful book.

While we have been studying in the Book (again) for several weeks (Wednesday Bible Study) we are still just a few verses in. Last night our Pastor reminded us that we are on a journey to perfection – maturity in the faith. It is a lifetime journey, and the sooner we start, the further we will be along the way when God takes us home, or Christ returns for His Bride.

So many Churches don’t include Bible Study that might be called “advanced.” That certainly is not a euphemism for difficult. The Sprit of God who indwells every Believer is a perfect teacher, teaching all who move toward maturity, and giving strength for the journey, joy for everyday, and peace that exceeds our understanding. Rather than study being a task, it become a pleasure as we see more clearly God’s design for all of us.

If you are not in a gathering of Believers who are moving further and further into God’s Word with enthusiasm and excitement, perhaps you might want to consider something new and wonderful. In all likelihood there is a place where that is happening near you. Find it. Grow toward maturity in the Faith, and discover the daily life the Father designed for His children.
