Thought For The Day

Sunday Morning

I usually sleep late on Sunday morning. Normally I get up at 3:30 or 4:ooam, but on Sunday I often sleep till 6:00. I try to arrive at the Churchhouse around 7, and get busy preparing for the folks who will come starting around 9:30 through to 11:15 or so. Some folks have a problem with being on time. (LOL)

I have almost always been excited about Sunday, Church, People of God. Some come to hear our Preacher (???), others because they like their Sunday Bible Study class, many just enjoy the fellowship of family and friends, the music, the understanding that they are being obedient. (see Hebrews 10:25)

Scripture speaks about the “early Church” (just after the Resurrection of Christ) meeting daily, “from house to house” sharing their lives, their goods, their faith, their llove, and growing toward Spiritual maturity. Except for the first two parts (daily; house to house) not much has changed except for the reality that there are so many more people – those who come, and those who don’t.

I hope you are part of the former. Your Church family is a vital place for your growth, a place for care and intertwining of lives, where you can share your gifts both Spiritual and temporal. I might mention that it is also a requirement (see passage above) if we are desirous of being completely obedient to God’s design.

It is also a place of danger, not so much physical danger (and most Churches are prepared for that), but the danger that the Enemy will constantly tempt Believers to forsake the Truth, live outside the protections of lloving one another, and be less committed to becoming “slaves of righteousness.” (see Romans 6:15-18)

I tell our Pastor all the time that I am almost always excited about the “happenings” in our fellowship. . .except that last one. It tends to affect so many these days, and spreads from one to another unless we are constantly alert, praying for one another, and lloving one another in the tangible ways Scripture demands. (see 1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

I like what one of my friends says about life generally: “You just have to GET UP, DRESS UP, SHOW UP.”

Just do it!!
