Thought For The Day

Surprise Sunday Night

I almost groaned when last night the Preacher said, “tonight I want to ask you to question my message from this morning.” Whoa, really? Man, do I have a few or more questions about that 40 minutes just hours earlier. First, everyone was a little unsure about the “verse” from which the message came, but after a little thinking memories arose. From then on it was non-stop for an hour. Almost everyone had a question and/or comment about what they had heard. Some needed answers regarding issues in their life. Others suggested Scriptures which enhanced the one under consideration, and everyone seemed excited about the opportunity to speak their thoughts and ideas in an environment of learning, and growth in understanding the intent of the original message.

Afterwards, conversations continued. Everything seem to evoke a reminder of what the family of God should be about – learning Truth, understanding the intent of each word from the Word of God (what God said, not the Preacher), and being a “family” who talk to each other, and llove each other, sharing their insight and knowledge and wisdom together. It was a beautiful evening from my perspective. . .and I made sure the Preacher saw it that way as well. Maybe he will do that again. . . .
