Thought For The Day

Take A Nap

Since good health is important for being “ready to go” in most activities, it is wise to consider those things that add to our well-being.
A new study says naps aren’t a lazy indulgence. In moderation, they may actually be good for your heart. In a new paper published in the journal Heart, researchers found that Swiss adults who took one or two daytime naps per week had a lower risk of heart problems, including heart disease and strokes. These short snoozes could be a valuable way to relieve stress and compensate for inadequate sleep at night, thereby protecting heart health, the paper says. Sleep deprivation is a known risk factor for conditions including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, heart disease and mental distress, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So naps could help the roughly one-third of Americans who don’t get the recommended minimum of seven hours rest per night. (TIME)
But come on now! For those of you who are using the “sermon” at Church for your nap time, you are missing out. (LOL) Naps aren’t the only thing good for your heart. Hearing the Truth of God’s Word is one of the other “vital” activities that keeps you ready for God’s call in your life, and provides relevant information for the struggles and difficulties that tend to press each of us during the course of life.
For those of you who have no other time to nap, I guess we can excuse you once in a while. Heaven knows there is not much better at putting people to sleep than a boring Preacher. Been there, done that! NO!! I didn’t mean “boring, I meant “napping.” Well, maybe a little of both.
