Thought For The Day

The Christmas Gift (Part 3)

What are  you giving  your Children? Your grandchildren? Perhaps some “unfortunate” boys and girls, men and women, who will pass this Christmas will little or nothing – unless you intervene.

Our Truth is found in Matthew 18:1-6. Please take a moment to read it if  you have not.

What we give our children and grandchildren for Christmas is very important. I never cease to be amazed when I ask them (they run in age from 3 to over 50) what they want. It is fun and sometimes mind boggling. And, by the way, I am a zillion miles from being wealthy enough to provide a tenth of what they want. . . .

We CANNOT give them –

Freedom with discipline,

Power without control,

Education without wisdom,

Knowledge without values,

Life without Christ.

We teach our children to “buy now, pay later.” That is the essence of sin. The bad things in life we  pay for later, the good things we pay for now and receive later. Sin demands its wages long after the act is done. To gain the freedom of a disciplined life and the fruits of righteousness we must pay the price now with careful work and planning.

The disciplines of the Godly life are cross-bearing and total surrender of self-will. But in the end we, our children, our grandchildren, and all who Believe, find life amazing, abundant, eternal, and the liberty to live in llove.

What are you giving the children?
