The End Is Near

I am moving ever closer to turning off the TV completely. While I plan to continue to watch some movies and sports, the fare that is offered on the major channels (ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS) grows more and more inane, immoral, and intellectually vacant.

I still enjoy “Designated Survivor.” Kiefer Sutherland portrays a President of the United States who is intelligent, embraces values, understands America’s role in the World, and seems little concerned about party politics. Yeah, I know, pure fantasy.

I am deeply concerned about children that are allowed to watch almost everything that is broadcast during the proverbial “family hours.” While I have seen only snippets of a few of the shows, and almost none of many, it appears they are all quite similar.

I wonder what would happen to those offerings if everyone who claims to be a member of the family of God would choose to abandon them, and those who provide the financial support for their airing.

Our Government is close to being a complete disaster. Our educational institutions are for the most part failing those who attend – paying astronomical prices for much of questionable value. Many Churches reduce their responsibilities for proclaiming Truth as often as possible. Our Nation is saturated with drugs, crime, ignorance, and hatred. I can’t help but believe that what we see and hear becomes what we think and do.

There are a lot of “good” people in this Country. There are millions of Believers. Obedience to the Truth of God is everywhere, but we are losing ground. . .fast. If I turn of my TV, I will have more time to pray, learn the Truth, and reach out to future Believers. Think about what might happen if all of “us” did.
